MICE Manager

Job Description

This position within the Asian Trails’ middle management ranks is an essential part of handling the MICE department  starting from receiving requests from travel agents abroad; prepare offers and quotations, timely follow-up and booking of all services with our branch offices, hotels and suppliers in Malaysia. You are also responsible for timely preparing and booking all events related services with hotels and other suppliers as well as the invoicing process and payment collection.

 

Overall responsibilities

  • Creating awareness in the mainly European markets to Malaysia
  • Attending tradeshow/exhibition and represent the Malaysia branch of Asian Trails’ Group
  • Coordinating and guiding the agency staff to work for the customer satisfaction and development of the agency
  • Managing the travel agency work activities and develop new tour and travel plans and packages for the MICE and French group leisure segment
  • Analysing the reports to ascertain the growth of the agency and if needed, employing better work strategies to improve the business aspect of the agency
  • Proposing strategies for the further development of the business
  • Responsible for developing sales strategies to support strategies goals
  • Maintaining extensive knowledge of the current developments in the business market in order to assess the position of the company and determine how to improve it
  • Be the main contact person of all MICE agents interested in Malaysia
  • Enhance our offers and assure a high level of quality and innovation in our RFP’s

 

Qualifications, skills and requirements

  • A degree in the hospitality and tourism industry is preferred
  • Excellent command of English – both verbally and in writing – is essential
  • Knowledge of Malaysia and its destinations is a prerequisite
  • Experience with TOPAX software or equal is an advantage
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) and excellent computing skills
  • Able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and work flexible hours during peak season. A "Can Do" attitude and positive thinking that includes creative thinking is an asset
